This is inexcusable. Army Medic Sergeant Mark England was beaten, tased and injured to the point to where he was undeployable (it was the weekend before he was to be deployed to Iraq again) by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police for doing NOTHING, all while other officers laugh!

The officers involved deserve no less than to be fired from their jobs, with a complete loss of pension and all benefits.

I changed the name

Yup, I changed the name of the blog from the boring, but true "Matt's Thoughts" to the more exclamatory and apropos "Get Right!". It describes me, and the purpose of the blog better. While I am a Conservative, I won't be afraid to rail on Republicans who are "RINOs" and I'll blog when I can - work is time-consuming and my schedule is only going to get busier (which is a good thing). A few notes - I am strongly Pro-God, Pro-America, Pro-Freedom, Pro-Military, Pro-Police, Pro-Gun, Pro-Individual Responsibility, and Pro-Marine.

I saw this on a shirt online recently that said

"I'd rather be a Right-Wing nut job than a Liberal with no nuts and no job." - I like it!

Al Gore's Inconvenient bills

We all know that Al Gore is one of the biggest hypocrites on earth, especially when it comes to his stance on "Global Warming" or "Climate Change". Here's more proof (as if we needed any...).The Tennessee Center for Policy Research has released a report stating "The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359." and "Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006."

This is just one more example of his (and the left's) outrageous hypocrisy in almost all areas of concern, particularly ones they are "passionate" about. They yell and rant about how we need to be concerned about Global Warming, and how we're ruining the earth, and that we won't have anyplace to live, all the while they are living it up in ways that most of us couldn't even imagine while using "gas-guzzling" SUVs, liberal usage of private planes, and secretly saying "Do as I say not as I do".

America Ferrera shoots her mouth off...

So at the Oscars last night, America Ferrera shot her mouth off and said that

"America’s supposedly the ‘land of the free,’ right?”...“Or at least we will be in 2008.” [loud applause]"

The remark was between her and Zach Braff, who actually said something funny.

What's almost even more sad than her alleging that America is some how being oppressed by the Bush Administration is her ignorance of when he will leave office. It's common knowledge that the next president will take office in January of 2009 (the 20th, to be exact) - a date that I thought by now, most left-wingers would have highlighted in their calendars and are planning to celebrate as a new Christmas or something. That's why we've got to make sure that Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo make it in to fill the seat. Anyway, she's obviously just another celebrity who is ignorant of actual facts, and suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome... and to think I used to think she was cool because her name is "America", maybe she should change it to "Kim" or "Huga", or maybe "Cindy"...

So after a few posts, I think I've decided on what I'd like this blog to be. It's going to be a news update site, but I know I won't be able to get all of the news on here, so I suggest you go to LGF, Michelle Malkin, BlackFive, Jawa Report, all of which can be found on this site, over on the right-hand side. I will post select things that "seem to stand out to me" for the most part. I will occasionally post "essays" or "articles" if you will, the first of which is below, titled "On the topic of being Anti Police". Feedback is much appreciated, but please no left-wing "nutroots" please. If you have a differing opinion, that is fine, and I'm usually up for discussion, I do try to have intelligent, informed, rational discussions without resorting to ad hominem attacks. Please also bear in mind that my schedule is a little crazy and all over the place with work and such, so I'll get to stuff when I can.
Oh, and please pardon the mess - I'm still trying to get things the way I like them.

I'd like to call attention to this wonderful blog I came across a little while ago called PJ Country. It's run by two Air Force Pararescue Jumpers, or PJs. These guys are the best - no exaggeration, they are the best paramedics in the world, can fight their way into and out of any situation, and fix those who need fixin'. Their motto is "That Others May Live" and truly live by it. God Bless them and their mission.

On the topic of being Anti-Police

When people complain about how wrong it is for a police officer to arrest someone for doing wrong (i.e. selling drugs, etc) and act like the offender is the innocent one instead of the people that the cop protected is insane. Or how about when scores of people defend convicted cop-killer, Mumia Abu-Jamal, and totally forget about the man he murdered, Daniel Faulkner? In this case the French have even named a street after Mumia, a move that can only be perceived as supportive of the murder of an innocent man. While on the topic of Mumia, I'll draw attention to the fact that in December, the House of Representatives held a vote on a resolution to protest this action by France, and the ONLY people to vote against the resolution were Democrats, makes ya think don't it? Also, almost two years ago, the city of Philadelphia threw a welcome party for French lefties who love Mumia, giving them of all things, Liberty Bells! This is at the very least insensitive to his widow, Maureen Faulkner, and his family, and if you take this all for what it truly is, it is a shameful display of love for someone who shot a police officer, in cold-blood, in the face, after he was already on the ground. Maureen Faulkner, his widow goes around the country denouncing Mumia and his followers who include hip hop artists Black Thought, Tupac Shakur, Dead Prez, Pharoahe Monch, Dilated Peoples, Jedi Mind Tricks, and KRS-ONE (who has since praised the terrorist attacks of September 11th, saying "we cheered when 911 happened"), rockers Zack de la Rocha (and Rage Against the Machine) Dead Kennedys, and Anti-Flag.

Recently on the 29th of January, the San Bernardino Sun ran a front page article on a "grass-roots" course called "A Weekend Course in Community Involvement" it can best be described as "... a major in punk rock with a minor in community involvement." This was very appropriate wording from The Sun, as I expect there to be no actual education on how to make the communities better, but just a lot of noise disguised as music from these bands. The head of it, vilifies the idea of police policing the community as "armed militias" and that the cops are committing an "escalation of war". He also says that under Operation Phoenix, an effective three-pronged approach to fighting crime, being implemented in San Bernardino by newly elected mayor Pat Morris, police are taking away civil liberties and creating a "fear-motivated police state". A spokeswoman from "Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools" will be at the event also, telling kids that "there are other options - not just Wal-Mart, the prison and the military. We want to show them what it really means to serve your community."

I'll start with that claims of the Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools that the only options for young people are "Wal-Mart, the prison and the military". The part about prison just shows what these groups think of our youth, that prison is even an option to them - this is ludicrous and just shows that the opinion is "the children are going to prison anyway, now we should show them they don't have to" The option of Wal-Mart is a good one, in my opinion, because it is a good starting point for a lot of people. Sure the starting pay and benefits aren't great but it is a good staring point in life. If you want to, I'm sure you could go to school, and get a degree in business and move up in the corporate section of Wal-Mart or other similar companies. Lastly their assertion about the military not being a good option for the youth is also a wildly ignorant claim. The military, I believe, is a good place for some youth for many reasons. It provides people with structure, discipline, purpose, a sense of camaraderie, money for school, life insurance, not to mention the fact that you are actually helping your community (even more readily noticeable if you're in the Reserves or Guard), your family, your country and the world at large. Plus if you decide not to make it a career, then when you get out, you have something to put on your resume that is widely respected by countless employers. Another similar option is a military academy (Air Force Academy, West Point, or Naval Academy at Annapolis) where you get an amazing education with no monetary cost to the student for tuition - the "payment" is five years as a Commissioned Officer in the military. These schools offer an education that is in my opinion better than the majority of Ivy League schools. One person that has gone this route is Kelly Perdew, winner of the second season of the show The Apprentice (West Point). The winner of The Apprentice won a job working for Donald Trump, one of the most successful men in the world. You do have to try hard, get good grades, and be physically fit to get admittance. This brings me to another point that is wrong with so many of the people in America today, their attitude that everything should be given to them for free, they might say "those strict requirements for colleges make it too hard for our children to get into!" well, what ever happened to working hard and reaping the benefits of your efforts? The fact is that by having standards, we are "forced" to become better, whether it be better athletes, better musicians, better movie makers, better workers, better cooks it makes us become better people. It is the drive to make our lives better that has made America what it is today, if not for the efforts of the American Revolutionaries, Founding Fathers, and American military personnel throughout history we would still be under the oppressive rule of the British. It is also this spirit of independence that has made America the premier exporter of freedom throughout the world. But I digress.

The head of the "Weekend Course in Community Involvement" made claims that by the police doing their jobs, which is to keep the people safe from the others who would wish to do them harm, they are no more than an "armed militia" who are "escalating a war" and are taking away civil liberties and creating a "fear-motivated police state". So am I to take this as meaning that he would rather have a community ran by gangs, drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes and other degenerates? If the police are an "armed militia" then to a certain extent, they have been made that way. Let me explain this statement. A lot of people view the weapons that the police use as "too mean or too militaristic" and by these weapons I mean the AR-15, higher caliber handguns, and military-style shotguns, along with body armor. On February 28, 1997, in what became known as "The North Hollywood Shootout" two heavily armed and armored gunmen took forty two people hostage and left with over three hundred thousand dollars in cash. Then they robbers began a shootout with police that ultimately resulted in their deaths. But while trying to gain the upper hand, the police realized that their 9mm and .38 caliber pistols weren't effective against the AK-47s, modified AR-15, HK91, Type 56 Assault Rifle, and 9mm pistol and body armor that were used by the robbers. In turn, they procured AR-15s from a local gun shop and were able to subdue the offenders. Situations like this are the reasons that the police now have higher powered weapons, and are now more readily able to protect the innocent from murderous thugs. So if the police are being considered an "armed militia" then one only needs to look at the dangers they are up against. Let me say that I do NOT view the police as an "armed militia" I view them as the protectors that they are and thank God they do what they do. As for the police creating a "fear motivated police state" I think the person needs to look no further than the people who are infesting the community with drugs, gang violence, rampant sex, and other evils of the world. They are the true perpetrators of "fear motivated" life, just ask any responsible parent who happens to live in the "inner-city", they'll tell you that they don't want their children going outside to play for fear of drive-bys, child abductions, or their child "falling in with the wrong crowd".

Now tell me who exactly is it that is causing all the fear?
